it's official!

chris and i are now the proud owners of an airstream! this is so freaking exciting!

say hello to our 1975 airstream land yacht trade wind! and it really is a land yacht. it's roughly 25 feet long and 7 feet wide. internally, it has a dining area/kitchen in the front, a bed in the middle section and a bathroom in the back. we have our work cut our for us just in cleaning alone.

we have a few plans to some quick upgrades. we aren't changing any of the internal structures since they are all still good. here are a few of our ideas:

  • rip out the carpet and linoleum floors and replace it with a laminate wood flooring with a foam base
  • take out the dining area and put in a full size bed
  • replace the counter tops and sink
  • install an electric fireplace in the middle section with a bench couch
still kinda debating on what size fridge. but first things first...this beast needs a super cleaning, new floors, and new paint.

phase one: steal underpants...

not really. so we have actually decided to go along with this crazy idea. we are moving to phoenix officially on may first...no later. we may actually be moving earlier.

i suppose this is an attempt to document what happens as the days, weeks, months get closer to the big date.

this is going to be a total change of scenery compared to the rainy northwest. i am pretty pumped though.

chris and i have plans to move into an airstream that we are renovating ourselves. i have always dreamed of doing something like this - living on the cheap, living in something i own, living simply. i can't even really fathom the amount of things i own that i cannot bring with me. books, clothes, dishes, random trinkets. it all needs to find a new home.

this is going to be one great adventure though....
